Frequently asked questions
Here are some common questions about our company.
No. The SP6-133 has an Espressif ESP32-S3 on board with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so it can hold the content and update the panel on its own.
If you would rather drive it from something else, send the image over USB-C from a computer, a Digital View STM-100 or a Raspberry Pi.
You send the board a bitmap and the board writes it to the panel. The image can arrive over the USB-C connector from a media source, or over Wi-Fi to the on-board processor.
The Digital View EP Demo App handles one to three displays. Applications written for E Ink by other suppliers can drive it too.
No. The SP6-133 is the controller board on its own, at $195. The 13.3 inch Spectra 6 panel, E Ink model EL133UF1, is bought separately.
Spectra 6 is E Ink's six-colour electronic paper. The panel produces red, green, blue, yellow, black and white, and mixes them to make a full-colour picture.
It is reflective, like printed paper, so there is no backlight and the picture is easiest to read in bright light.
Yes. Electronic paper holds its image with no power at all, so the last picture stays on the panel. Nothing is lost and nothing needs redrawing when the power comes back.
5 V DC through the USB-C connector, which is the same connector that carries the image. There is no separate power input to wire up.
There are four 3.4 mm mounting holes, 5.0 mm in from each edge, on an 80.0 mm by 60.0 mm span. The board is 90.0 mm by 70.0 mm and 5.0 mm thick overall.

The panel they drive. The SP6-133 is for the 13.3 inch EL133UF1 at 1200 x 1600; the SP6-315 is for the 31.5 inch EL315TW1 at 2560 x 1440.
Both are E Ink Spectra 6 six-colour boards with an ESP32-S3 and a USB-C connector.
