Digital View has added a through-glass touch solution to its extensive line-up of display controllers and accessories for digital media
London, (21 March 2007). Digital View has further extended its extensive range of display interface controllers and accessories with the addition of a through-glass touch controller. The product is designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for solutions which allow screens to be operated even through a physical barrier such as a store window.
Today, with the growing implementation of digital signage there is increasing interest in placing digital screens inside a store window, and allowing passers-by to interact without entering the store. Estate agents, for example, have widely embraced the idea, though it is also applied in other environments which use product selectable demonstrations. Digital View's new TGT controller facilitates this process by enabling up to 4 touch pads to be operated through typical store-thickness glass, or any other non-conducting material such as a table top.
Designed to work with Digital View's popular Viewstream and RemotePlayer 3 series of digital media players, the controller can also be used with the company's RP-700 series by using the serial output and a serial to USB adapter.
Installation of the controller is simple, and the touch pads can be made of any electrically conductive material such as self-adhesive copper tape, and can be made as large as is convenient, as long as a spacing of at least 0.125" is left between adjacent pads. Touching one of the pads on the glass triggers a signal output to a player device to select a specific track or function. The function of the touch pads relies on a non-contact capacitive technology, and their sensitivity is adjustable.
