Synchronisation of content across multiple screens is a powerful way of increasing impact. Now, those with non-networked systems have a simple and cost-effective way of implementing the effect.
London, (16 April 2007) Digital View (www.digitalview.com) has introduced an extremely straightforward and low-cost method for synchronising media players used in digital signage applications. The new product offers an easy and inexpensive way to synchronise content across multiple non-networked screens to produce sophisticated display effects, such as simulated animation.
Today, digital signage is rapidly becoming one of the most powerful marketing tools available, and users are always looking for ways to maximise the impact of content. One of these techniques - screen synchronisation - was originally introduced by Digital View over two years ago, but the technology was available only for networked systems. Now, however, Digital View has gone one step further by making the effect available to those in a non-networked environment.
Designed to provide synchronised master timing for installations using multiple units of various Compact Flash and Web based media players manufactured by Digital View, the Synchroniser Unit has an internal clock that is graduated in units of 5 seconds up to a maximum time of 8000 seconds (2 hours 13 minutes). Once the clock is set for the desired time interval it will then repeat continuously generating an event trigger each time the interval expires. This event trigger causes the content on the synchronised players to resynchronise either by advancing to a common track or following a playlist instruction.
Digital View's RoHS-compliant Synchroniser Unit can be used to add a powerful new dimension to content in non-networked environments. The technique is already used to great effect in networked systems, including the London Underground, where Digital View's technology enabled the world's first "digital poster" application in an escalator setting. This application, at Tottenham Court Rd Tube station, has proved a massive success.
