Digital View meets demand for HD-SDI solution

A new dual-channel HD-SDI adapter from Digital View further extends the options available to those implementing High Definition professional and broadcast video applications, including digital signage

London, (15 Nov 2006) Digital View has introduced a dual-channel High Definition Serial Digital Interface (HD-SDI) module, designed to further enhance its solutions for broadcast TV,and professional video applications, as well as the growing requirements for digital signage. Designed to be used with the Digital View SVH-1920 controller board, the HD-SDI module is fully standards compliant and offers significant advantages over alternative solutions.

Digital View's SVH-1920 controller board is a highly cost-effective, off-the shelf interface enabling support for full 1080p High Definition LCD displays. The introduction of the dual-channel HD-SDI module will address the market demand for a solution which allows pass-through on both channels while giving display priority on the active channel, and which also maintains signal integrity over long distances. Digital View's HD-SDI adapter is ideal for the transmission of high definition video over distances of hundreds of meters - or more, if fibre is used as the transmission medium. The Digital View solution is also unique in offering a direct digital connection between the HD-SDI board and the controller data channel, so there is no signal conversion loss in the system, thus optimising image quality.

Together, the SVH-1920 controller board and optional dual channel HD-SDI interface module (a single-channel module is also available) offer a highly cost-effective solution for high-definition, professional monitor applications used in broadcast TV and professional video applications. The SVH-1920 is a fully buffered multi-sync interface controller that provides analog and digital connection - PC, DVI & Video Interface - for a wide range of TFT LCD panels up to WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) from companies such as Sharp, Samsung, LG and AU Optronics. Featuring full screen image expansion of lower resolutions, image flip and invert functions, and onscreen PIP functions, the SVH-1920 also supports an available High-Definition Serial Digital Interface (HD-SDI) adapter for professional and broadcast video applications.

The SVH-1920 is the latest addition to Digital View's new Professional Class video controller family, featuring advanced capabilities, support and custom development paths for OEM clients. Combined with the HD-SDI daughter board, this system offers an off-the shelf solution that supports the latest high resolution video standards over coax cable for broadcast TV and professional video applications. Typically, the transition to HD-SDI requires an external converter which will provide a less direct interface and at higher cost compared to this new Digital View solution. Also, with the DV SVH-1920 / HD-SDI combination, users get a system with the power and stability to handle multi-format, graphics-intensive projects combined with the ability to move seamlessly between HD and SD resolution media.
