New power supply board meets demands of HD-ready digital signage systems

A new product from Digital View will be welcomed by digital signage system designers looking for a cost-effective power solution for the latest high-resolution and high-definition LCD display systems

London, (2 Nov 2006)Digital View has introduced a highly compact power supply board suitable for use with the current and emerging generations of high-resolution digital signage systems. This is an important development for today's larger screens, which tend to use significantly more power than earlier generations, and often a require a number of different voltages within the system.

There is a growing demand for compact and cost-effective solutions to the power supply element of the latest digital signage systems, which are beginning to use panels which meet the high-definition standard of 720p and 1080p. In fact, the latest edition of the Samsung Screen Survey, now recognised as the most comprehensive measure of UK retail screen media usage, revealed on 10 October 2006 that the majority of screens used are 21-42", and that LCD/TFT/Plasma is now the most commonly used technology. The survey also showed that there has been an increase in screen installation of 245% compared with 2 years ago.

Digital View's new power supply board is compatible with all of the company's controllers, though it is particularly relevant to recent additions to the range, such as the SVH-1920, which handles high resolution panels from Sharp, Samsung, LG and others up to a resolution of 1920x1080. The SVH-1920 is one of Digital View's recently introduced Professional Class series of display interface controllers, a highly cost-effective, off-the shelf panel which supports super-high resolution running through coax cable for broadcast TV and professional video applications. The product cuts the cost of transition to High Definition, usually achieved through the purchase of a high-end adapter kit, very significantly.
