Digital View's RemoteTransfer is believed to be the only digital signage management solution which offers APIs for all EPoS systems. This offers real advantages to retailers.
London, (11 Sept 2006) The latest version of Digital View's management system for Digital Media Networks will link to the EPoS system of any manufacturer, providing a range of benefits increasingly seen by retailers (and others) as key marketing tools. The system, RemoteTransfer, features APIs which enable fast and flexible connections to any make of till system, allowing the retailer to use checkout data as a trigger for events such as specific in-store promotions.
RemoteTransfer works with Digital View established range of media players, to give clients full control of file, schedule and network management, as well as distribution and monitoring. Because the system's API (Application Programming Interface) will easily allow links with any EPoS equipment, RemoteTransfer can be used to deliver an in-store marketing environment which offers "adaptive reaction" - that is, the use of checkout data to adapt in-store promotions to store conditions. Thus, for example, the system can be configured to avoid the promotion of out-of-stock items, or - conversely - to promote product lines which are slow moving. RemoteTransfer's XML APIs facilitate this by allowing automatic uploading of new content, distributing content dynamically through the network using sophisticated grouping, and on-the-fly generation of new playlists.
"Using EPoS data as a trigger for in-store marketing is an obvious extension of current applications of digital signage," commented James Henry, Chairman of Digital View, "and many customers want to take advantage of its benefits. So far, few companies offer this capability, though one or two provide APIs for selected EPoS manufacturers. Our completely open, link-to-all approach is a real step forward."
RemoteTransfer™ works with Digital View's established range of media players, to give clients full control of file, schedule and network management, as well as distribution and monitoring. Using RS-232 connectivity, the displaylink™ connection provides remote control of functions such as Set Status On/Off, Query Status (i.e is the screen on/off?) and Set Audio Volume for a range of supported screens. The result is simple and accurate reporting on players and locations, and reports of actual playout logs from the players themselves rather than from planning documents.
"This solution goes to the heart of a key industry issue," commented James Henry, Chairman of Digital View, "in that it helps to address the question of confidence. If screen media is to realise its considerable potential, it's important that those who invest in its use can believe they’re getting what they pay for."
