New single-board interface controller is designed for latest-generation high-definition flat panel displays

DV latest LCD interface controller meets the requirements of the emerging 1080i video standard, and is ideal for many high-resolution applications

London, 14 October 2005A single-board LCD interface controller designed to support the latest generation of high-resolution LCD panels has been introduced by Digital View. The product is ideal for applications such as DTV, HDTV, FPTV, film post-processing, medical diagnostic displays, digital signage and a range of high-reliability military applications.

A feature-rich, multi-sync controller designed to support the latest generation of high-resolution LCDs and high-definition video FPDs, the SVH-1920 from Digital View delivers extremely fast output exactly matched to the resolution required by WUXGA panels, making the product an excellent solution for the emerging high-definition 1080i video standards.

"The TV industry is moving away from 640 x 480 pixel VGA resolution to higher resolutions as required by 1080p video," commented Ian Larkman at Digital View, "and the SVH-1920 provides a single-board solution for these applications. It's ideal, for example, where the output signal from the computer is 1920 x 1080 pixels and the resolution of the panel must match it exactly."

Bringing together the industry's most advanced video scan conversion and de-interlacer video-processing ICs, and Digital View's ability to support multiple panels from a single controller board, regardless of manufacturer, the SVH-1920 provides full screen buffering, multi-panel support, and a range of inputs - including ARGB, DVI and Video, with an upgrade path for an HD-SDI (High Definition Serial Digital Interface) connection. The new DV controller board can drive TFT LCDs at resolutions from VGA all the way up to WUXGA, with full screen image expansion and excellent picture quality. It provides a convenient, cost-effective single-board solution for a wide variety of OEM monitor and packaged flat panel display applications, including 1080i, 1080p, 1035i, 720p, 480i, and 480p HDTV formats.

Featuring support for non-linear scaling modes, the SVH-1920 has an analog RGB input port supporting up to WUXGA @ 60 Hz, with support for analog component (YPrPb) video input. The product also has a video input port for optional ITBU 656 and 24/16-bit YUV input, variable-size PiP and PoP display capabilities and frame rate conversion and interface.

The SVH-1920 accepts analog RGB and DVI-D computer input signals as well as interlaced video input signals. It comes equipped with dual-channel TTL and dual LVDS transmitters for direct connection to LCD panels, and can process up to 16.7 million colours.

Measuring only 179mm x 120.4mm (approx. 7-in. x 4.74-in.) with a low 16mm profile, the compact SVH-1920 includes an on-screen display (OSD) function menu with buttons for function control, and full up/down, lower/higher resolution image scaling to fit a higher/lower resolution panel, such as SVGA up to UXGA or UXGA down to XGA.
