New LCD controller from Digital View features universal LVDS interface

London, 15 August 2005 Digital View has introduced a new, easy-to-use display interface solution, specifically designed to meet the needs of system integrators, value added resellers and OEMs who need the flexibility to interface with a wide range of LCDs to satisfy custom application requirements, is now available from Digital View. With a small form factor, the product is particularly suitable for industrial, medical, transportation, signage and military applications.

The Digital View AL-1280 is a compact (107mm x 92mm; 4.2" x 3.6"), multi-sync interface for analog RGB connection to a wide range of LVDS-interface TFT type LCD panels. Supporting panel resolutions from 640x480 up to 1280x1024 pixels, the product features automatic up-scaling of lower resolution inputs onto a higher resolution flat panel display.

"The controller's Universal LVDS Interface feature - ULI™ - ensures compatibility across the wide range of LVDS interfaces found in current LCD panels and does so in the most cost-effective manner," said Ian Larkman, business development manager at DV. Digital View's ULI™ feature will be gradually phased into the company's entire range of controllers supporting LVDS panels, he said. The AL- 1280 offers very high reliability with an MTBF in excess of 100,000 hours, multi-panel support (VGA, SVGA, XGA, and SXGA formats) and standard analog RGB (ARG input (15 pin D-sub). All connectors, mounting hole footprints and feature selections are in conformance with Digital View standards that have become established across an international customer base. With support already in place for panels from Sharp, NEC, AU Optronics, LG Philips, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Chi Mei, Fujitsu, Hitachi, CPT, Hyundai and Samsung, the AL-1280 will be available from all Digital View offices and distributors.
