TARGET MARKET

Whilst Digital View serves the mainstream LCD monitor and video market a major part of it’s business has come from helping companies in particular sectors. This includes marine, medical, digital signage, professional video, legacy, gaming, military….. The list goes on.

A characteristic of this market is often relatively low production volumes, for example a few hundred or a few thousand per year a well as extended project timelines.

Our global customer base is truly global and we pay a lot of attention to supporting sales through distribution and reseller partners. Part of this can be seen with our commitment to human engineering and support.

Controller Design Philosophy

LCD Controllers have changed dramatically since Digital View first started developing them in 1995. A constant roll out of new components has continued the rapid improvement in quality and functionality while costs have fallen. This rate of change presents a challenge for application manufacturers who need continuity for their projects.

From the outset we anticipated this situation and decided on plan to meet this challenge as well as provide real benefits to our customers. As expresses by James Henry, the Chairman and one of the founders of Digital View “One of the things that set Digital View apart in the early days and continues to differentiate us today is that we established and have maintained a design philosophy intended to provide stability and predictability in the face of rapid development whilst at the same time providing a high standard of technical and cost benefits”

The principles behind our design philosophy can be summarized as follows:

  • Excellent components
  • Design standards
  • Human engineering
  • Fault tolerant architecture
  • Highly flexible generic board designs
  • High quality of support, both online and personal
  • Commitment to customization

Customers have always been able to rely on our choice of components; it is not just our choice of the market leaders such as Pixelworks, Genesis, ST Micro but also our adherence to our ISO-9001 process and experience in using these brands.

These design standards we formulated have provided benefits to many projects as we have maintained physical layout of controllers, particularly with reference to PCB size, edges, mounting holes and connector locations. This has allowed manufacturers to migrate to new controllers without expensive enclosure redesigns. Also we have always developed our controllers beyond the basic specification of reference designs adding more features and flexibility.

Amplifier Module

The 4106894-02 amplifier module is an optional add-on accessory for Digital View controllers and is compatible with the SVP/DVI-1280, SV/DVI-1600 and AVP-1280 controllers.

The amplifier provides for true stereo performance and provides 2.0 Watts per channel into 4 ohm speakers or 1 Watt into 8 ohm speakers with distortion at less than 2%.

The controller accepts line-level signals through the left and right channel RCA audio jacks or through an alternate OEM connector on the controller card. The amplifier module provides both a 3.5 mm stereo jack socket and a 3 pin JST type connector for connection to the speaker. User controls for volume are accessed through the OSD menus; via the hand-held remote control; or via commands over the Digital View proprietary RS232 interface.

The amplifier module connects to the controller via a single connector and installs on the same plane as the controller to maintain minimal height. The amplifier is 91.45mm [3.6”] x 25.4mm [1.0”] and is available from stock.

Recent Additions

The following lists new panel additions to the published solutions on the Digital View web site. Not all of these are new panels, but are listed if a new solution diagram has been added for a specific controller model. Digital View controllers continue to support the broadest range of panel manufacturers and models in the industry.
