Solid-State Media Players vs PC’s

April 21st, 2009 No comments

Digital View has long been an advocate of solid-state media players rather than generic PC’s . The simple reason is that the benefits generally significantly outweight the compromises.

To address this we have published a note on this topic: http://www.digitalview.com/articles/solidstate-hdmediaplayer-vs-pc.php

Solid-state media players are dedicated devices intended for use in commercial media environments such as digital signage, retail POP video displays and museums. They provide high reliability for lower cost in a smaller package than PC’s.

That is not to say that PC’s cannot be used and in some cases may be the right choice which is why Digital View launched the RP-400 (see http://www.digitalview.com/network/).
